Oscillating between the high end and the affordable, the upcoming week in art is bringing us many must-see exhibitions. Art market is blossoming with the Upcoming Auctions, but one of the important art fairs – Art Brussels, is also to come. Brussels is definitely a good place to be next week, since Eric Fischl is having a show at Jablonka Maruani Mercier as well. On the American side of the pond, Gagosian New York is showing yet another star of the contemporary art – Cy Twombly, the abstraction king. Some of the highlights include a show of the latest Smash137 pieces at Zurich based Kolly Gallery and a pop hit show made by Ricardo Cavolo, who reminds us of the 101 artists we need to hear before we die. Along with the classics, a show we highlighted as one of the most interesting to come is Multum in Parvo At Dominique Levy, a brilliant combination of two genius – Alexander Calder and Santiago Calatrava. Women are also very much in focus, as Barbara Gross Galerie presents Female Views on Russia, while Atomica Gallery is Celebrating Women Artists at Arcadia Contemporary. Urban art world, packed with happenings, gives us two intriguing shows to see as well. One is curiously named We Are All Doomed, a presentation of 60 artists at Art Whino, while another one is at 44309 street art gallery in Dortmund, showing latest creations of Telmo & Miel, a street art duo from the Netherlands. From Europe to NY, art scene is blooming away!

…Brought together across time, Calder and Calatrava express an interest in blurring boundaries between the disciplines of art and architecture. Both explore the ways in which delicacy and strength can co-exist in combinations of curving lines, basic forms, and diminutive details. Calatrava combines advanced engineering with dramatic visual elements to produce massive utilitarian structures that appear as delicate, graceful, and natural forms. Calder brought the precision learned from his own training as an engineer to create some of the most iconic artworks of the 20th century…
