December 8, 2018
Balasz Takac is alias of Vladimir Bjelicic who is actively engaged in art criticism, curatorial and artistic practice.

The Japan Foundation who is organizing the Japan Pavilion for the 58th Venice Bienalle selected the curatorial project of Hiroyuki Hattori, an Associate Professor at the Akita University of Art. His team will be composed of the artist Motoyuki Shitamichi, composer Taro Yasuno, anthropologist and Associate Professor at Akita University of Art Toshiaki Ishikur, and Fuminori Nousak, an architect and Associate Professor at Tokyo Denki University.

The exhibition will be based on the tsunami stones which are explored by the artist Motoyuki Shitamichi since 2015. These stones are signifiers of memories of disasters, as well as local religious beliefs, colonies for migratory birds and homes for insects, and are creating unique landscapes in which nature and culture are combined.
