Louis Vuitton Artist Scarf: Edition III
The French fashion powerhouse has teamed up with international street artists Kenny Scharf, André Saraiva and INTI for their third edition of the ‘Artist Scarf’. Each street artist has created his own Louis Vuitton Artist Scarf depicting the signature style. André painted his famous Mr. A figurine on the Louis Vuitton scarf. The colors André used are different nuances of blue and red. The background is sprinkled with color dots that remind of Pollock. INTI designed the silk scarf with a red, yellow and orange Aztec face we have seen in his murals. Kenny Scharf’s Louis Vuitton scarf is artistically the most elaborate with its universe theme. It shows planets, spaceships, tires, a space girl as well as the yin & yang sign. Louis Vuitton also decided to create another Artist Scarf with the designes of the deceased punk/glamour fashion designer and artist Stephen Sprouse. The Sprouse silk scarf is a leopard print in orange and purple. The Louis Vuitton Artist Scarves are set to hit the shelves in March 2014.
Louis Vuitton Artist Scarf Edition I & II
The continuation of the Louis Vuitton Artist Scarf is rooted in the success the French fashion label had in the previous years with designs by Retna, Os Gemeos, Aiko, Ben Eine, eL Seed and Ekho Nugroho. The Spring/Summer collection 2013 was the launch for Volume I that featured designs by: Brazilian street artist Os Gemeos for €375; Retna’s scarf for €500; and AIKO’s creation came at €750. Volume II was part of the Fall/Winter collection of 2013 with a price ranging from €300 to €700. Especially the Ben Eine ‘typo’ scarf was a standout piece of the series. The success of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection is predictable. It will be sold out within minutes after launch.
