It seems that music stars and Hollywood celebrities are the new generation of art collectors. Everyone appears to be collecting art, attending auctions and making 7 figures bids. For sure, the entertainment players have the money for this expensive hobby. They became more sophisticated and want the world to know about it.

Here’s a list of celebrities with impressive art collections.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams’s penthouse in Miami is known for its vast art collection. Mr. Williams is a huge fan of contemporary sculptors and painters such as Takashi Murakami and KAWS, whose artworks dominate his apartment. Williams’ impressive collection of over 700 Art Toys is displayed in this year’s exhibition This is not a toy at the Design Exchange in Toronto. He also owns works by Keith Haring and Daniel Arsham.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has been attending auctions and art fairs from New York to Miami over the past couple of years, hoping to find something interesting for his personal collection. In 2013, DiCaprio organized an auction with Christie's to raise money for the environment. His own Andreas Gursky satellite image of Earth, Ocean V, was auctioned. DiCaprio is known collector of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ed Ruscha, Todd Schorr, and Mark Ryden. His current collection reportedly includes the works by Oscar Murillo, Salvador Dali and Takashi Murakami.

David and Victoria Beckham

The couple is known for their tremendous love for fashion, but David and Victoria have a heart for arts, too. Over the last decade, the Beckham's have amassed an impressive art collection, allegedly worth over 30 million euros. The entire collection is “love themed” and graces their homes in London, Milan and LA. The Beckham's have recently bought one of Damien Hirst’s artworks for their new London mansion. The huge pink heart, called Daddy's Girl, was commissioned by David and Victoria for their daughter Harper and is said to have cost six figures. Besides Hirst, Beckam’s collection includes the works by Sam Taylor Wood, Tracey Emin, Banksy, and Jake and Dinos Chapman. 

Jay-Z and Beyonce

It is Beyonce who loves to collect art and who eventually influenced her husband to start collecting, too. Besides two Damien Hirst’s paintings, one named after  Jay’s lyrics from his own track "Pray", famous rapper and his superstar wife, Beyonce, own works by Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Pablo Picasso, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, David Hammons, George Condo, Paul Pfeiffer Laurie Simmons, and Ed Ruscha. Certainly an impressive and expensive collection! The couple have been spotted numerous times at Art Basel Miami, and in 2013, they purchased a work by street artist Hebru Brantley.

Swizz Beatz

Rapper Swizz Beatz possesses an impressive art collection that includes works by Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, Basquiat, Swoon, Enie Barnes, KAWS, Takashi Murakami and Cecily Brown. It was his interest in Basquiat that inspired him to start collecting art. Moreover, works within his collection inspired him to try painting.

Chris Martin

Even though the Coldplay frontman recently managed to win the battle over Banksy’s heart-shaped balloon for his lady, it appears that it didn't help their relationship. The couple called time on their union last month. The reported painting called Red Balloon by Banksy started an alleged bidding war between Charlize Theron and Chris Martin, but Gwyneth’s ex outbid Theron and bought the work for $650,000.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt is amongst those who love to spend millions on art. His wife, Angelina Jolie, is less passionate about it and believes that the money would be better spent on a charity. Brad has a huge art collection that's worth almost 18 million euros. In 2009 at Art Basel, Pitt purchased a Neo Rauch painting for $1 million. Beside Rauch, the collection of Brad and Angelina includes works by Yayoi Kusama, Marcel Dzama, and Banksy. Along with contemporary art and design, Pitt is a keen collector of Art Deco furniture.

Tobey Maguire

Who would have thought that Spiderman has a great passion for arts? Tobey Maguire has been seen at the New York Armory Show and at Art Basel Miami and some art auctions to bid for great masterpieces. In 2007, he purchased a painting from Japanese artist Kaz Oshiro. The same year, he made a bid for Mark Rylen’s drawing titled “Tincture” during MoCA’s annual FRESH silent auction fundraiser and successfully got it for $42,500.

Moby

Moby's castle in the Hollywood Hills is filled with vintage globes, artworks he loves and has a personal connection with, Danish Modern furniture and vintage cameras, and his own photos. His walls in the living room are filled with artworks by JR, David Lynch, Mark Ryden and Shepard Fairey. In his home, he also has a drawing by "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening and the one by Dean DeBlois, co-writer and co-director of "Lilo & Stitch."

Sir Elton John and David Furnish also own pieces by Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, and Philip Taaffe.
