The summer hiatus is coming to an end. Even though the gallery scene slows down during the summer, these past months were not inactive. As we look behind at the last 30 days, there was still a good selection of exhibitions, summer group shows and galleries that did their best to stay active despite the heat. We are glad that many of these galleries are part of our database and that we can present our readers with their latest exhibitions and activities. We are about to dive into the fall art season and a plethora of new exhibitions, art fairs, and auctions that it will bring. But before that, let's take a look at the month behind us and galleries that you loved the most in August!
A regular on our monthly list, Artemisia Gallery is a contemporary art space located in New York City. Promoting a wide selection of international contemporary artists, the gallery aims to approach both experienced and new collectors. In addition to hosting solo, duo and group exhibitions throughout the year, the gallery also organized life events featuring artists. Spanning across a wide range of styles and expressions, the gallery has a comprehensive portfolio and exhibits painting, sculpture, objects and urban art.
Established in 2006 by Jan Corey Helford and her husband Bruce Helford, Corey Helford Gallery has evolved into one of the premier galleries dedicated to new contemporary art. The gallery supports and promotes young and emerging artists, but also the well-known and established ones. Ther roster is diverse and the collection encompasses different styles and genres such as New Figurative Art, Pop Surrealism, Neo Pop, Graffiti and Street Art and Post Grafitti. For their 10 year anniversary, the gallery currently hosts an exhibition entitled Ten Years of Amazing Artists: Corey Helford Gallery and Friends Celebrate! that will be on view until September 24th, 2016.
An online gallery founded in 2015 by Elena and Blair Thompson living in Singapore, the Addicted Art Gallery offers a comprehensive online art experience. Aiming to connect people to art in a friendly, posh-less, non-highbrow kind of way, their collection encompasses different types of art divided into three broad categories. Their diverse portfolio includes Contemporary Art with a focus on South East Asian art, Urban and Pop Art featuring established artists, and Vintage Posters and Art Deco inspired works that take the viewer on a journey to a different time.
