Five more auctions are ahead of us during the next week - one on Tuesday, July 21, and four on Wednesday, July 22. There will be more than a thousand modern and contemporary artworks for sale, ranging from paintings to prints, photography and 20th century design. First, at Capitolium Art auction house in Brescia, Italy, Modern & Contemporary art sale is about to take place on July 21, with 135 lots that are valued at almost $1 million. Then, an interesting auction is set on Wednesday, July 22 at Sotheby's New York, with almost 250 artworks at Contemporary Living – Photographs, Prints & Design auction (estimated value is $1.68 - $2.47 million). At Christie's New York the First Open NYC auction is scheduled also on Wednesday ($3.85 - $5.54 million), as well as two auctions at Auctionata Berlin: Prints & Photography (the sum of starting prices is $184,835), and Post-War & Contemporary Art (with the sum of starting prices of $298,644).
If you decide to buy something at Modern & Contemporary art auction at Capitolium Art (Via C.Cattaneo n. 55 25121 Brescia, Italy), you will find something for every pocket - literally. Starting prices range from $150 to $10,000, and there are more than several artworks made by some big contemporary names, such as Arman, Turi Simeti, Cy Twombly or Wifredo Lam. The estimated average lot value is $6,351.
A new concept will be presented at Sotheby's New York, with the Contemporary Living - Photographs, Prints & Design auction that will take place on July 22 at 10 AM. This will be the inaugural auction of this kind, since a growing trend is noticed amongst collectors - to mix and match works from different categories, particularly from photographs, prints, and 20th century design, creating a sort of a dialog between them. Artworks by Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, Ormond Gigli, Sebastião-Salgado and David Hockney, among others, will be put on sale, with the estimated average lot value of $8,338.
First Open NYC auction that will take place at Christie's New York on July 22 will feature works by Andy Warhol, Kazuo Shiraga, Lucio Fontana, Günther Förg, Keith Haring, and many others. This auction will be the opportunity to purchase some works by the most popular and sought-after post-war and contemporary artists, with the estimated average lot value of $13,199.
Two auctions will take place on July 22 at Auctionata auction house in Berlin, and one of them will be Prints & Photography auction. Auctionata doesn't give estimated values of lots, but only starting prices, so total of 173 lots that will be auctioned have the average starting price of $1,068. Prints & Photography auction will feature works by Alex Katz, Tom Wesselmann, Peter Doig, Anton Corbijn and Damien Hirst, to name a few.
Artworks from post-1945 period and by mostly European post-war and contemporary artists will be put on sale on July 22 at Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Auctionata Berlin. Total of 174 lots will be auctioned, for the average starting price of $1,716. Some of the artists that will have their works auctioned are Max Weiler, Jack Pierson, Franziska Hufnagel, Petr Michajlovich Ignatev, Ernst Fuchs and Anna Tessenow.
