Murals and Installations at The Long Beach Museum of Art in collab with Thinkspace and POW! WOW!
After a very successful exhibition of murals and installations in 2015, under the name Vitality & Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape, The Long Beach Museum of Art will host yet another show in celebration of urban contemporary art, ceramic art and sculpture. In collaboration with LA’s Thinkspace Gallery and POW! WOW! Long Beach 2016, a group of carefully selected, internationally renowned street artists and muralists will come together for a showcase of immersive, multimedia installations which put an emphasis on the diversity, vastness and the complexity of an ever-growing art movement. What can we expect at this year’s edition?
Vitality & Verve: In the Third Dimension
Entitled Vitality & Verve: In the Third Dimension, the exhibition stands as a support for a contemporary art movement looking for a museological context. Although urban art roots deeply within the public domain, it is slowly finding its way towards the mainstream and is becoming an important segment of prominent art institutions’ program. Urban art’s fluidity, versatility and a unique vision of the cultural development continues to expand and enrich, and as such it is drawing attention of curators and collectors. Contributing to this fact is The Long Beach Museum of Art, by offering all 8,000 square feet of its venue, to an impressive line-up of artists and their latest, innovative site-specific installations, murals and sculptural pieces. Combining a variety of styles and aesthetics, the exhibition promises yet another original experience of the best new contemporary art has to offer.

That urban art long surpassed the notion of being two-dimensional is an established fact, promoted by an array of experimental artists who are redefining the context of sculpture and installation at large. Using different materials, from fiber, wood and plastic to acrylics, resins, textiles, cardboard and ceramics to name a few, they create artworks which interact with the surrounding space and the audience alike. The list of participating artists is a comprehensive one, as there are many familiar names such as Isaac Cordal, Andrew Hem, Jaime Molina, Aaron De La Cruz, Sergio Garcia, Glazed Paradise (Mark Jenkins & Sandra Fernandez), Telmo Miel, Sarah Joncas, Ariel DeAndrea, Felipe Pantone, Craig Skibs Barker, Slinkachu, Ernest Zacharevic with Martha Cooper, and many others.
