An Homage to the Important People in our Lives

Logan Hicks was chosen as the next artist to paint the historic Houston Bowery Wall in lower Manhattan. In the mural titled Story of my Life, he speaks of his past ten years in New York. After he finished the mural, the artist stated: “It’s been 2 days since i completed the mural and the response has been more incredible than I could have anticipated. When you are painting it, you don’t really stop to look at the whole thing. When you’re painting you are looking for any details that you need to fix, you worry about if stencils are lining up, and if the colors look good. So when i finished, i was exhausted and dead tired. I slept 12 hours the next day! But day I woke up and started clicking through all the posts online and seeing how happy people were with it, and for the first time since i started this thing, i was able to sit back and actually take it all in. It’s the largest mural that i’ve ever done. It’s at least double what i have done previously. So the technical challenges were a bit daunting.

The content of the piece is about my past 10 years in New York. The people in the piece are all people that I know in some way or another, and that have supported me in some way or another. Friends, family, or just random people who i have seen over the past few years at art shows. The piece was meant as an homage to those who helped me get to this point in my life. Although there are a few that couldn’t make the photoshoot and weren’t included in the piece, the bulk of those important to me were included.”
