Rhytm of the Saints

2016
Osijek, Croatia

Tribute to Josip Reihl-Kir

Talented street artist Lunar recently created a colossal new mural in Osijek, a city in the eastern Croatian region of Slavonia. Entitled Rhythm of the Saints / If I Have Weaknesses, Don’t Let Them Blind Me, it pays tribute to Josip Reihl-Kir, a Police Chief of Osijek who was assassinated on July 1, 1991, after trying to prevent armed conflict breaking out between Croats and Serbs in the Osijek region in the same year. The large scale piece depicts tree that breaks through the walls of the damaged building symbolizing a person who overcame huge obstacles in life without losing faith in humanity.
