POW! WOW! Long Beach: The Mural Festival

POW! – It’s the impact that art has on a person. WOW! – It’s reaction that art has on a viewer. After very successful festivals in Hawaii, Hong Kong and Taiwan, POW! WOW! festival is coming to Long Beach with a superb program and esteemed participants.  Its newest venture in the Californian city of Long Beach will make murals pop up across the wide walls. Visitors will be able to enjoy in additional program prepared by the organizers – exhibitions, talks and screenings. The Long Beach Museum of Art will also be hosting exhibition Verve and Vitality: Transforming the Urban Landscape curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace Gallery. The tentative roster includes artists such as Aaron de la Cruz, Fafi, Cryptik, Hueman, Jeff Soto and more.

14 Artists Painting Murals

POW! WOW! has presented a list of 14 distinguished street artists which are going to embellish the walls of Long Beach with their murals. A week of pure street art pleasure will present to the audience artists such as Aaron De La Cruz, Benjie Escobar, Bumblebee, Cryptik, Fafi, Hueman, James Jean, Jeff McMillan, Jeff Soto, LowBros, Madsteez, Nychos, Push, Tristan Eaton. As a part of the additional program, visitor will be able to attend talks with Nychos and Fafi. A collaboration between Long Beach Museum of Art and Thinkspace Gallery will be embodied as Verve and Vitality: Transforming the Urban Landscape, an exhibition that will bring together twenty international artists invited to transform both floors of the Long Beach Museum of Art this coming June by way of murals, installations and more.

Schedule of POW! WOW! Long Beach

POW! WOW! Long Beach festival will last from June 21 until June 28, 2015, and apart from the mural making, the festival has prepared some pretty neat program throughout the festival.

POW! WOW! School of Long Beach

June 21 – June 25

POW! WOW! School of Music has prepared a delightful program for young musician age 18-22, providing a unique learning experience. These musicians will be able to participate in roundtables on composition, musicianship, performance, and the music business, with local and national musicians, teachers and music industry professionals. The students will also have the opportunity to create original music, to collaborate with each other,  and perform at one of POW! WOW! Long Beach’s public events.

Documenting the adventures of Nychos as he traverses the world and painting every corner of it. Within the last two years Nychos was accompanied by filmmaker Christian Fischer who recorded his journeys to create a full length film. The Deepest Depths Of The Burrow is a documentary about art, lifestyle and subculture.
