James Kalm had heard rumors echoing through New York's painting community regarding this "mid-career" exhibition of Wade Guyton. It seems everyone has an opinion about whether Guyton is a painter, a printer, a photographer or a conceptualist. Curated by the Whitney's Scot Rothkopf, this extensive show fills the entire third floor and presents work from 1999 till now. Balancing between the worlds of hard core abstractionists and the conceptual legacy of Commodity Art and the Pictures Generation, Guyton has made his use of large scale inkjet printing, scanners and computer programs a major portion of the content. This program includes statements by Adam Weinberg, Scot Rothkopf and Wade Guyton. A musical introduction is provided by Shane Patrick www.shanepatrick.net
