We have chosen three auctions out of several that will happen next week. This, likely, won’t be a high volume week, in terms of prices that will be achieved, as the highest estimated value of any lots from this three auctions is not exceeding $600,000. But, there will be lot of contemporary items, and we are bringing you a lot of images, so you could see as much as possible before auctions start. Chronologically, first auction of the week is Under the influence that will take place on April 13, at Phillips in London. Then, on April 14 and April 15, at Christie’s in Amsterdam, the Post-War and Contemporary auction is about to happen. And, on April 18, Modern and Contemporary Art auction will take place at SBI Art Auction in Tokyo.

This Under the influenc auction at Phillps in London (30 Berkeley Square, London) is at 4 PM on April 13. This is a selection of artworks by important young contemporary artists, and the highest estimated value will have Marc Quinn’s Separation Of Body And Soul. YYRBGGYRRBWYYY from 2011 (Lot 68), that is estimated at $119,020 – $178,709. Fredrik Værslev’s Untitled (Terrazzo) from 2011 (Lot 23) is estimated at $89,354 – $119,139, and these are only two lots that have their estimates above $100,000. Christian Rosa’s Untitled from 2014 (Lot 23) should be sold at $44,677 – $74,462, as well as Adam McEwen’s New York, New York executed in 2006 (Lot 37). Two lots are estimated at $37,231 – $52,123, Sarah Morris’ Midtown Madison Square Garden (Stairwell) from 1998 (Lot 64), and Julian Opie’s Woman Taking Off Summer Dress. 10 from 2003 (Lot 73). At auction house Christie’s at Amsterdam (Cornelis Schuystraat 57, 1071 JG Amsterdam, Netherlands), a two-day auction of Post-War and Contemporary Art will take place. There will be quite a few lots – total of 323, and auction is divided in three parts: first (lots 1-62) will occur on April 14, at 7 PM, second on April 15, at 10:30 AM (lots 100-197), and the third part will take place on April 15, at 2 PM (lots 201-323). The highest estimated lot in this auction will be Jan Schoonhoven’s R73-1 from 1973 (Lot 19), which should be sold at $485,647 – $593,568. At number two, there is Gerhard Richter’s Grün-blau-rot from 1993 (Lot 48), that is estimated at $161,882 – $215,843. Otto Piene’s Untitled (Rasterbild), that is executed in period of 1958 to 1972 (Lot 16) should change hands for $151,090 – $194,259, and two lots are estimated at $129,506 – $194,259: another Otto Piene’s work, Untitled (Rasterbild) from 1959 (Lot 2) and Pierre Alechinsky’s Retour Des Choses, executed in 1993-94 (Lot 38). Karel Appel’s Deux personnages from 1960 (Lot 35) should be sold for $130,680 – $174,240, and Heinz Mack’s Klassisches Lichtrelief from 1959 (Lot 10) and Antoni Tàpies’ Implícit-Explícit from 1995 (Lot 11) are estimated at $107,922 – $161,882. Asger Jorn’s A Look Into The Past from 1962 (Lot 45) is estimated at $75,545 – $97,129, Walter Leblanc’s Torsions M.O. 9, from 1974 (Lot 17) should be sold for $70,149 – $86,337. In Tokyo, at SBI Art Auction Co, Ltd auction house (7F TFT Building East Wing, 3-6-11 Koutou-ku, Tokyo, Japan), Modern and Contemporary Art auction will take place on April 18, at 2 PM. This will be a mix of artworks by famous Western artists, and famous Asian artists – we’ll see how successful this mix will be. Although the highest estimated value will have Shiraga Kazuo’s Koukai from 1990 (Lot 214), and it is set at $333,300 – $583,300, this auction is actually the opportunity to acquire artwork made by some famous name in contemporary art, for a reasonable price. But, let’s start from the top. After Kazuo’s work, the second priciest lot is Andy Warhol’s combined ten works, named Endangered SpeciesF. & S. II. 293-302) from 1983 (Lot 71), that are estimated at $291,700 – $375,000. And these two are the only lots that should go six-figures. Mary Heilmann’s Glide from 2001-2002 (Lot 103) is estimated at $54,200 – $70,800, Motonaga Sadamasa’s Right Left Red from 1970 (Lot 210) at $33,300 – $50,000, and Chung Sang-Hwa’s Untitled 90-11-17 from 1990 (Lot 175) and Moriyama Daido’s Kagerou (Mayfly) from 1972 (Lot 115) are both estimated at $25,000 – $41,700. Jason Martin’s Untitled (Aerolam No.7) from 1997 (Lot 102) could go over $30,000 ($23,300 – $31,700), as well as Banksy’s Soup Can-Banana/Cherry/Blue from 2005 (Lot 82) and Yamada Masaaki’s Work C.79 from 1960 (Lot 166), as both works are estimated at $20,800 – $29,200. Then come three works that should go between $16,700 and $25,000: Takamatsu Jiro’s Shadow No.1421 from 1997 (Lot 149), Suda Yoshihiro’s Tokyo Installation 2 2/3 from 1996 (Lot 234) and Lee Ufan’s Untitled from 1980 (Lot 173). Invader’s ALIAS LDN-34, executed between 1999 and 2007 (Lot 81), is estimated at $12,500 – $20,800, as well as Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Il Bagno Turco from 1971 (Lot 100), Inokuma Genichiro’s Work Of The Movie “to Live” from 1952 (Lot 152) and Motonaga Sadamasa’s Furafurafu from 1983 (Lot 209).
