Hello, contemporary art lovers, a big auction week is ahead of us! Out of really huge number of auctions from around the world, we have chosen seven auctions, out of which we have picked the priciest lots – some of them are worth more than a million US dollars, but you’ll also find some artworks by some of the renowned contemporary artists, that are more available and are worth several thousand dollars. There are three auctions on Tuesday, April 21. At Sotheby’s Doha there’ll be Contemporary Art auctions, at Bonhams Prints and Multiples, and at Phillips will be held Editions: Including A Selection Of Works On Paper. Then, on Wednesday, April 22, at Christie’s London will be held Prints and Multiples – First Impressions auction, and on Friday, April 24, another three auctions are scheduled: at Christie’s New York Prints And Multiples (this one will last two days, both on April 23 and April 24), and at Auctionata Berlin will take place Photography & Prints and Prints & Editions. Sotheby's: Contemporary Art/Doha

On Tuesday, April 21, at 7 PM at Sotheby’s auction house in Doha (Level 15, Commercialbank Plaza, P.O. Box 27111, Al-Markhiya Street # 60, Doha, Qatar) there will be held Contemporary Art auction. At last year’s sale in Doha there have been achieved record prices for 13 artists, and we hope there will be more records broken on Tuesday’s auction, which will be a mix of leading Middle Eastern and international contemporary artists. The highest priced lot of the night is Christopher Wool’s Untitled from 1987 (Lot 16), which is estimate at $1,000,000 – $1,500,000. Anish Kapoor’s Untitled from 2008 (Lot 12) and El Anatsui’s Introvert from 2012 (Lot 28) are estimated at $800,000 – $1,200,000. Rudolf Stingel’s Untitled from 2001 (Lot 21) could, eventually, also break $1 million, as it is estimated at $600,000 – $800,000. Then, there are no more artworks that are estimated at more than $350,000: Rachid Koraïchi’s Nedjma (The Four Seasons) from 2009 (Lot 43) should be sold at $250,000 – $350,000, Chant Avedissian’s Icons Of The Nile that is executed between 1991 and 2010 (Lot 4) should change hands for $180,000 – $250,000. Three more artworks are estimated at $150,000 – $200,000: Monir Farmanfarmaian’s A New Spring from 2007 (Lot 8), Nejib Belkhodja’s Medina Entre Deux Orages (Medina Between Two Storms) from 1982 (Lot 13) and Charles Hossein’s Zenderoudi’s Reçu…Cinq Sur Cinq (Loud And Clear) from 1977 (Lot 22). Farhad Moshiri’s I Got Sunshine from 2011 (Lot 14) is estimated at $120,000 – $180,000, and another four artworks should be sold for $100,000 – $150,000: Wim Delvoye’s Dump Truck (Scale Model 1:6) from 2011 (Lot 33), Ali Banisadr’s The Shrine from 2011 (Lot 6), Farhad Moshiri’s Untitled from2003 (Lot 26) and Mohamed Ehsai’s Mohabbat (Kindness) from 2006 (Lot 10). Vik Muniz’s Nympheas, After Claude Monet (Pictures of Magazines 2) from 2013 (Lot 7) should also go for six-figure price ($90,000 – $120,000), as well as Shirin Neshat’s Overruled from 2012 (Lot 17) and Ayman Baalbaki’s Al-Mulatham I from 2008 (Lot 9) (both estimated at $80,000 – $120,000) and Bahman Mohasses’ Untitled from 1970 (Lot 50).

Finally, seventh auction that we have put in focus for next week is another auction at Auctionata Berlin named Prints & Editions. It is going to be held on April 24 at 6 PM, at Atelier 1, Havelchaussee 161, 14055 Berlin, Germany, and this is also an opportunity for buying artworks for less than $3,000. The priciest lot of the night will be Roy Lichtenstein’s Still Life With Picasso from 1973 (Lot 61), that is estimated at $10,176 – $12,720, while Sam Francis’ Pioggia D’oro (Golden Rain) from 1988 (Lot 81) should be sold for $8,480 – $10,600. Robert Longo’s Essentials from 2009 (Lot 57) is expected to go for $3,816 – $4,770, and Damien Hirst’s Opium from 2000 (Lot 140) and Roy Lichtenstein’s Dialog Art Collection from 1988 (Lot 62) should be sold for $3,392 – $4,240. Damien Hirst’s Oh My God […] from 2002 (Lot 139) is expected to go under $3,000 ($2,374 – $2,968), and Gerhard Richter’s Candle from 2008 (Lot 135), Sam Francis’ From Papierski Portfolio from 1973 (Lot 77), A.R. Penck’s Praxis from 2000 (Lot 130) and Gerhard Richter’s Seascape (Sea-Sea) from 2005 (Lot 136) could go even bellow $2,000 as they are estimated at $1,696 – $2,120. Per Kirkeby’s Composition from 1989 (Lot 115) should go for $1,356 – $1,696, while two works by Jesús Rafael Soto’s From Caroni, 1971 (Lots 53 and 54) are estimated at $1,356 – $1,696. A.R. Penck’s Jäger (Motiv 4) from 1990 (Lot 111) should change owners for $1,187 – $1,484, as well as Shirin Neshat’s I Am Its Secret from 1993 (Lot 98).
