What Sold at Urvanity 2017 ?

Opening its doors on February 23rd, the first edition of Urvanity 2017 has served as a meeting point where both expert and amateur art collectors could admire and purchase a carefully curated selection of New Contemporary Art. The opening night was packed, with collectors and art enthusiasts enjoying a fantastic selection of works in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. In terms of sales, we could say that Urvanity is off to a great start, especially having in mind this is the very first edition of the fair.

So let’s take a look the art what sold on the first day of the 2017 edition of Urvanity in Madrid !

Vroom and Varossieau, Amsterdam

Vroom and Varossieau also had a great start. During the preview, the gallery has sold a Banksy piece titled Rat (With 3D Glasses). Banksy has always been a favorite among collectors, and his works are rising in value.

Galerie Martine Ehmer, Bruxelles

Coming from Bruxelles, Galerie Martine Ehmer has sold a piece by Jef Aerosol titled Janis Joplin that is painted on an authentic piece of a Mercedes car. One of the most famous artists in the contemporary world, Jef Aerosol is very fond of music and often pays homage to his favorite musicians from the 1960s era.

Pretty Portal, Dusseldorf

Pretty Portal gallery from Dusseldorf has sold three canvases by Fin DAC titled Shukumei, Netheria and Chanhsegi. Fin DAC is known for his large-scale murals of beautiful women, believing that art should only serve a purpose of bare embellishment of mundane lives. The gallery has also sold several PixelPancho prints.

Station 16, Montreal

A Montreal-based gallery, Station 16 sold six pieces by the talented sculptor Laurence Vallières, including a piece titled Mandrill and the Coca-Cola Gun. The sculpture Mandrill is one of the two pieces the artist has created here in Madrid for the occasion of Urvanity. The gallery has also sold seven pieces by Ricardo Cavolo, a Spanish artist with a unique imaginarium and a colorful iconography of tattooed souls, legends and fantastic nature.
