Works on Paper Group Exhibition
Galerie Eva Presenhuber based in Zurich, has announced its first show of 2015 which will be the Works on Paper group exhibition featuring the artworks of thirty one artists. In the Works on Paper group exhibition, Galerie Eva Presenhuber will present a comprehensive and diverse collection of collages, drawings and prints from the thirty one artists comprised of various nationalities and generations. As the title of the group exhibition implies, Works on Paper will see the various artists come together in one show with the medium of paper being the only constant between them which should bring about a diverse and interesting collection of works considering the range of artists exhibiting. The Works on Paper group exhibition features a number of the artists who have exhibited previously with Galerie Eva Presenhuber, who hosted an exhibition that you can read about in the Emergence of Four article that featured new works by David Ostrowski, Oscar Murillo, Tobias Pils and Justin Matherly.
Group Exhibition at Galerie Eva Presenhuber
With thirty one artists represented in the Works on Paper group exhibition at Galerie Eva Presenhuber, the show promises to be an eclectic and wide ranging collection of artworks that reveal how the artists respond to creating with paper. As stated before, it promises to be a comprehensive and diverse collection of collages, drawings and prints from artists that cover a broad spectrum of styles which includes English photographer Walead Beshty (see more in the Walead Beshty Q & A video), who has become known for the abstract style of his photography and sculpture work that represents sculptural forms of his photographs and Swiss born installation artist Ugo Rondinone whose complex works encompass photography, drawing, painting, sculpture, installations and video work (see the artist discussing his work in the video Ugo Rondinone – Stretching the Persona). What makes the Works on Paper group exhibition so fascinating is that alongside the works of Beshty you may find the wonderful creations of someone like New York based artist Joe Bradley (see the video Joe Bradley by Stef Bloch) whose childlike paintings are described by the artist himself as ‘intentionally shoddy’ and ‘pathetic’ and are stylistically very different to the other artists on display.
Artists in the Works on Paper Group Exhibition
The range of artists in the Works on Paper group exhibition at Galerie Eva Presenhuber is quite breathtaking, American photographer and painter Sam Falls (see more in 10 American Painters Under 40) will be represented in the show alongside fellow American Carroll Dunham who has become known for his colourful works that explore the relationships between abstraction and figuration (see more works in this Carroll Dunham at Gladstone Gallery video). Also featured will be renowned Scottish artist Douglas Gordon (see Phantom), one of the most influential contemporary video artists and also from Scotland Martin Boyce, who won the Turner Prize in 2011 for his installation Do Words Have Voices. The Works on Paper group exhibition promises to be a fascinating glimpse into the creative processes of a wide range of artists linked by the common element of only paper.
