YIA Art Fair - Supporting Young International Artists

October 6, 2016
A philosophy graduate interested in theory, politics and art. Alias of Jelena Martinović.

Following six editions in Paris and one in Brussels, the international art fair YIA Art Fair (Young International Artists) returns during the FIAC at Carreau du Temple. Founded in 2010 by Romain Tichit, YIA specializes in promotion, diffusion, and exhibitions of emerging artists in the contemporary art scene. From October 20th to 23rd, the art fair will present an international selection of 65 galleries coming from 16 countries and 3 continents. In addition, the fair will have a rich supporting program with a series of talks in the auditorium and a space dedicated to drawings and editions with guest artist Daniel Buren represented for this occasion by Atelier Multiples-Un. YIA Art Fair is a fantastic opportunity for emerging artists to increase their visibility and make valuable connections with the audience and international art collectors.

The YIA Program

In partnership with Marais Culture +, YIA Art Fair will present a cultural Hors-Les Murs for a third year in a row, in order to provide more visibility to young artists. Curated by the committee guided by Marion Zilion, the program will feature exhibitions, dances and performances, screenings of short and medium-length films, as well talks and special meetings between art enthusiasts, artists and other art professionals. You should check out the exhibition Pavillon de l’Exil, the curatorial project of the artist Mounir Fatmi, Gerard Fromanger retrospective at Centre Georges Pompidou, as well as works by Said-Afifi, Nelly Agassi, and Guy Limone.

Profanations Formelles, a committee of Alessandro Gallicchio will showcase a group exhibition featuring Chiara Bettazzi, Carlo Colli, Carine Klonowski, Pierre-Pol Lecouturier, Muriel Leray, Rachel Morellet, Nicolas Rames and Sebastien Vonier. Ruines du Soleil, a committee of Lea Bismuth, will present the artistic duo Pia Ronde & Fabien Saleil. The Foundation Bandjoun Station from Bandjoun will present the project Silent Crying featuring the work of young African artists Jean David Nkot and Atsoupe.

Apart from the program of exhibitions, YIA will also organize a series of roundtables around issues related to contemporary thought and aesthetics in order to strengthen the links between different spheres and actors of art. Taking place from October 21st until 23, these discussions will be open to visitors within the limit of available seats.
